Artist Statement – Annika Peißert

"For me, art is the expression of joy, energy, and vibrant being."

Paintings can touch, awaken, soothe, or inspire.
They bring depth, wonder, and connection – revealing what wants to be seen in the moment.
I feel deep gratitude that through my art I can evoke these experiences in others.
What moves me most is when someone discovers their painting –
that moment of resonance, when they feel and recognize the image as something deeply their own.
That is why I paint.

Since autumn 2016, I have been painting intuitively and autodidactically,
working mainly with acrylics, which allow for spontaneity, movement, and vivid color.
Since the summer of 2020, I have been working as an independent artist,
today living and creating on the island of Corfu, Greece.

The impulse to paint came to me during meditation –
a clear, inner calling that I simply followed.
Painting has since become a form of connection,
a practice of listening, feeling, and being fully present in the moment.

My works emerge intuitively – without sketches or preconceptions.
I trust the vision and the process; the painting knows what it wants to become.
Each brushstroke leads to the next, each color calls for another.
In this flow, I often feel that I am not painting the picture –
the picture is painting itself through me.

I draw inspiration from nature, from silence, movement, emotion, and everyday life –
from everything that touches the senses and the soul.
My artistic focus lies in the energy and resonance of color
in the interplay between intensity and stillness, between surface and depth.

With my paintings, I wish to open spaces of resonance –
moments in which viewers can recognize themselves within the work.
I believe that in simplicity lies great strength, clarity, and truth.
Reduction is therefore an essential element in my art –
it allows space for what truly matters,
for what vibrates between the colors and beyond the visible.
